The revolutionary aspect of the GBS lies in its ability to communicate with compatible La Marzocco espresso machines, such as the Linea PB ABR, GB5 ABR, or KB90 ABR. Through this communication, the grinder can autonomously determine the optimal grind size and adjust accordingly to meet desired specifications. This feature eliminates the need for manual intervention by baristas, particularly during peak hours when efficiency is paramount. By streamlining the cafe workflow in this way, the GBS significantly enhances operational efficiency and consistency in coffee preparation. Baristas can focus on other aspects of drink preparation, confident that the grinder is repeatedly hitting the programmed dose weight within 1/10th of a gram, and continuously optimizing grind size to produce exceptional espresso.

Like the Mahlkonig's E80S and E80S GBW grinders, the E80W GBS is engineered with 80mm steel burrs and a robust 780W motor spinning at 1700 rpm, enabling lightning-fast grinding for doubleshots in under 3 seconds. The E80W GBS boasts uninterrupted operation without risk of overheating, handling up to 10 double espressos per minute with a 3-second on, 3-second off duty cycle. Its 80mm steel burr set, designed with the same geometry as the revered Ditting 807 Lab Sweet, delivers blazing-fast grind speeds and high extraction yields with increased sweetness. This grinder epitomizes speed and efficiency, offering baristas the ability to maintain a rapid pace of service without compromising on quality or flavor.
The Future Of Grinding
Similar to the Mahlkonig E80S GbW and E65S GbW grinders, the E80W GBS is equipped with an integrated load-cell positioned beneath the portafilter fork, otherwise known as ‘GbW’ or ‘Grind by Weight’. This innovative technology swiftly weighs and resets the portafilter, then precisely monitors the weight of ground coffee in real-time as it falls into the basket. Employing an advanced algorithm, the grinder automatically stops grinding at the precise moment to meet a programmed dose weight within 1/10th of a gram, equivalent to the weight of a single coffee bean. GbW technology eliminates the need to adjust grind time following a change in grind size to maintain a specific dose weight. Irrespective of the grind size, GbW technology consistently doses the exact same quantity of coffee with each operation. This allows baristas to focus on crafting exceptional espresso without the need for continual adjustments.
Even if you're not using the grinder's Sync functionality, the E80W GbS operates like the E80S GbW, but features a high-precision motorized grind adjustment that can be manually set with the jog dial to an accuracy of 0.001mm.
